candidates take part in first
televised debate:
The former New Zealand prime minister
Helen Clark is one of 10 confirmed
candidates to take part in debate at UN
general assembly in New York. It is the
first time a public debate has been held
between secretary general hopefuls.

Candidates for the position of next
secretary general of the UN are taking
part in a televised debate, the first of its
kind.
The 10-confirmed candidates are split
into two groups of five for a one-hour
discussion and Q&A.
The first group is made up of Vesna
Pusić, from Croatia, António Guterres
(Portugal), Susana Malcorra (Argentina),
Vuk Jeremic (Serbia) and Natalia
Gherman (Moldova).

The second group comprises Helen Clark
(New Zealand), Danilo Turk (Slovenia),
Christiana Figueres (Costa Rica), Igor
Lukšić (Montenegro) and Irina Bokova
(Bulgaria).
Srgjan Kerim from the Former Yugoslav
Republic of Macedonia and Miroslav
Lajčák from the Slovak Republic are not
taking part.
