The five most popular cars of 2017 so far

2017 has a lot to live up to in the automotive
world. Despite a plethora of new car launches
lined up throughout the year, it will take a lot for
it to match the dizzying numbers of new car
registrations and leasing enquiries we saw in
2016.
In fact, 2016 was officially the busiest year on
record for new car registrations , with 2.69 million
units hitting British roads throughout the period,
while the value of the personal leasing sector
grew by 41.8% .
We’ve seen some ups and downs in the market
already, with many opting to take the new car
plunge before VED changes came into force
from April. Now we’re well into May, we’ve
delved into our own data to see what the most
popular models are when it comes to personal
leasing…
5. Nissan Qashqai

With a facelifted version (pictured) coming in
July , Nissan is aiming to offer drivers a more
premium feel with the Qashqai. The truth is that
it didn’t really need a refresh though. It’s been
king of the crossovers since it created the
segment for itself some 10 years ago .
It would appear it’s still able to fend off the
competition despite some great new models
appearing from the likes of Seat, Suzuki and
Peugeot. Practical and economical as well as
quiet, classy and efficient, this is a lease choice
that has never lost its momentum.
4. Volkswagen Tiguan

If there’s one crossover that can steal the
limelight from Nissan however, it’s the
Volkswagen Tiguan . The new one arrived at a
time when practicality, performance, comfort and
versatility were all high on driver’s needs, and its
popularity demonstrates this.
While it’s compact inside, the Tiguan offers more
space than a Qashqai as well as better
refinement. If you’re looking for thrills and
excitement from your motor, you should look
elsewhere though – the Tiguan’s aim is to make
driving as effortless and easy as possible.
3. Mercedes-Benz A-Class

The A-Class has been around a while now, but
its popularity would appear to increases as each
year passes. Having undergone a refresh last
year, this is a premium hatch that’s in-tune with
what lease customers want.
Smart, sporty styling inside and out as well as
strong and efficient engines make it one of the
most desirable hatches around. What’s more,
excellent residual values make it more affordable
that you may assume.
2. Volkswagen Golf

Having recently undergone a refresh, the latest
Volkswagen Golf comes with some seriously
impressive tech along with an updated range of
more efficient engines. A minor restyle on the
outside completes the look.
Add to this the classic Golf combination of
quality, practicality and good value and it’d be a
surprise if it didn’t continue to dominate the
leasing market this year. It ended 2016 as the
most enquired personal vehicle on
ContractHireAndLeasing.com, but so far in 2017
it’s narrowly missing out on the top spot to…
1. Mercedes-Benz C-Class

It’s no surprise to see the C-Class taking the top
spot on our list, what with its classy interior,
excellent drup…Intog dynamics and low running
costs. In the first four months it would appear
it’s finally taken the place of the ubiquitous Golf
as the lessee’s car of choice.
Being a Benz, it comes kitted out with the very
latest in tech, with most models benefitting from
the likes of dual-zone climate control, auto
headlights and wipers, adaptive cruise control
and a wonderful infotainment system with a vivid
7in colour display.
When it comes to compact executive saloons,
Mercedes-Benz has the leasing market tied up…
